The manufacturing process of stainless steel square pipe mainly includes round steel preparation, heating, hot rolling perforation, cutting head, pickling, grinding, lubrication, cold rolling processing, degreasing, solution heat treatment, straightening, pipe cutting, pickling, finished product inspection and other steps. In the manufacturing process, it is necessary to strictly control the process parameters and material quality to ensure the mechanical properties and appearance quality of the stainless steel square pipe.
Stainless steel square pipe has a wide range of applications. Our inspection of steel pipes generally includes: inspection of geometric size and surface quality: inspection of chemical composition, mechanical properties, technological properties, inspection of high-low tissue: non-destructive testing: inspection of some special properties and length measurement and weighing.
(1) Check the geometric size of the steel pipe
The outer diameter, wall thickness, bending degree and length of the steel pipe are checked on the inspection table with external calipers, micrometers, bending degree and length winding.
Sometimes, the outer diameter, wall thickness and length are also continuously tested by automatic size detection devices (such as automatic diameter measurement, thickness measurement, length measurement devices). For OCTG steel pipe also need to check the thread parameters.
(2) Check the inner and outer surfaces of the steel pipe
We generally use visual inspection for internal and external surface inspection, and in addition to visual inspection, the internal surface is also inspected by reflection prism. Some special purpose steel pipes also require non-destructive testing, including eddy current, magnetic leakage, ultrasonic, magnetic particle testing, etc., to check the quality of the inner and outer surface of the steel pipe.
(3) Mechanical properties and process performance inspection
In order to verify that the mechanical properties of the steel pipe meet the requirements of the standard, we need to conduct mechanical properties inspection on the steel pipe sampling.
The test of mechanical properties mainly includes tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, impact work, etc. The process performance test mainly includes flattening test, flaring test, water pressure test, flange test, cold bending test, perforating test and so on. These inspection items are selected according to the different standards and the difference in the use of the steel pipe.
(4) Non-destructive inspection

Different types of stainless steel are labeled with an AISI three-digit number. The ISO 15510 standard lists the chemical compositions of stainless steels of the specifications in existing ISO, ASTM, EN, JIS, and GB standards in a useful interchange table.
