Product specification and description
The manufacturing process of ERW welded steel pipe includes the following steps: First, the steel plate is cut into a straight slit of a certain length, and after pretreatment to remove the oil and oxide film on the surface; Then, the resistance heat is used to shape the straight seam welding, and the precise current and voltage control is adopted in the welding process to ensure the requirements of welding quality and stability. Finally, the welded steel pipe quality inspection and surface treatment to ensure that it meets the relevant standards and customer requirements.
ERW welded steel pipe has many advantages, such as high production efficiency, good welding quality and high material utilization rate. In addition, ERW welded steel pipe also has the advantages of energy saving, environmental protection and so on, in line with the requirements of sustainable development of modern industry. Therefore, ERW welded steel pipe is widely used in oil, natural gas, chemical, electric power, shipbuilding, aerospace and other fields of transportation pipeline and pressure vessel manufacturing.
Our inspection of steel pipes generally includes: inspection of geometric size and surface quality: inspection of chemical composition, mechanical properties, technological properties, inspection of high-low tissue: non-destructive testing: inspection of some special properties and length measurement and weighing.
(1) Check the geometric size of the steel pipe
The outer diameter, wall thickness, bending degree and length of the steel pipe are checked on the inspection table with external calipers, micrometers, bending degree and length winding.
Sometimes, the outer diameter, wall thickness and length are also continuously tested by automatic size detection devices (such as automatic diameter measurement, thickness measurement, length measurement devices). For OCTG steel pipe also need to check the thread parameters.
(2) Check the inner and outer surfaces of the steel pipe
We generally use visual inspection for internal and external surface inspection, and in addition to visual inspection, the internal surface is also inspected by reflection prism. Some special purpose steel pipes also require non-destructive testing, including eddy current, magnetic leakage, ultrasonic, magnetic particle testing, etc., to check the quality of the inner and outer surface of the steel pipe.
(3) Mechanical properties and process performance inspection
In order to verify that the mechanical properties of the steel pipe meet the requirements of the standard, we need to conduct mechanical properties inspection on the steel pipe sampling.
The test of mechanical properties mainly includes tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, impact work, etc. The process performance test mainly includes flattening test, flaring test, water pressure test, flange test, cold bending test, perforating test and so on. These inspection items are selected according to the different standards and the difference in the use of the steel pipe.
(4) Non-destructive inspection
Our non-destructive testing methods include: magnetic leakage testing, ultrasonic testing, eddy current and fluorescent magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic spectrum analysis testing, ultrasonic imaging testing and ultrasonic high temperature testing
Material introduction
Carbon steel is a steel with carbon content from about 0.05 up to 2.1 percent by weight. The definition of carbon steel from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) states:
no minimum content is specified or required for chromium, cobalt, molybdenum, nickel, niobium, titanium, tungsten, vanadium, zirconium, or any other element to be added to obtain a desired alloying effect;
the specified minimum for copper does not exceed 0.40%;
or the maximum content specified for any of the following elements does not exceed the percentages noted: manganese 1.65%; silicon 0.60%; copper 0.60%.

As the carbon percentage content rises, steel has the ability to become harder and stronger through heat treating; however, it becomes less ductile. Regardless of the heat treatment, a higher carbon content reduces weldability. In carbon steels, the higher carbon content lowers the melting point.
